Overall strategyEdit

These musketeers represent the reformed elements of the most loyal of the Sultan's own personal bodyguard. Having cast aside the personal élan and mediaeval derring-do of the Yeniçeri Corps for a more professional, disciplined and impersonal Western approach to the art of war, Solak Guardsmen are the most stalwart troops and can be relied upon to form a defensive formation against cavalry. Even so, do not overly rely on them — they are hardened troops, yes, but take a long time to train and while their smoothbore muskets give them greater range, the poor accuracy and reload time of their guns leaves much to be desired when it comes to fighting agianst regular infantry. Nevertheless, they are still cheaper than most Fusilier-type units, and can be relied upon to save the day, bar enemy Cannon or Flying Artillery.
