Overall strategy[]
While it isn't as powerful as the Cannon nor as strong as Flying Artillery, the Mortar is an excellent weapon with one regard - it has a greater radius of splash damage, and is extremely dangerous especially against enemy warships and buildings, which it can take down fairly easily. Mortars like Flying Artillery are masters of dealing out splash damage, but this means they are better if used against enemy cities which are heavily defended, although they can be used to assault enemy infantry at long range.
