Overall strategy[]
This unit is meant to be a Fluyt that actually can sail as fast as a Frigate, but suffers in that she only mounts swivel guns (lower attack), and also has fewer hitpoints, making the Xebec the third strongest medium vessel in the game, after the Frigate and the Fluyt. However, she has one bonus — she is every bit as manoeuvreable as a Galley, and possibly only slightly costlier, and is also proficient at attacking Fire Vessels or Rocket Boats. Additionally, because she costs more Wealth than Timber she is highly ideal as a warship especially in scenarios where Timber is in short supply.
So for the Middle Eastern and South Asian factions that are able to raise her, the Xebec is a very useful unit to have around, as like the American Constitution-class heavy frigate, she is a "one-size-fits-all" warship — meant to be used to raid and overpower enemy Frigates by virtue of sheer numbers. On the other hand, a Xebec is not meant to be used against the bigger and heavier warships such as the Man of War or Heavy Frigate: that is the task of the Fire Vessel or Rocket Boats. Even the lowly War Junk can win in a single-ship duel against the Xebec. Still, being of middling cost and endowed with good manoeuverability, the Xebec is a powerful tool if used in vast numbers once other higher-level foes have been sunk.
