A vision of gaunt shapes, sharp shiny steel, dim lamps flaring in the rain. The war machine was rolling.

Overall strategy[]

This massive war machine is slow, but ideal for use against rifle-based units and soakng up machine gun fire, functioning as a support vehicle for assisting your cheaper but weaker infantr. They exemplify your command of knowledge, requiring almost every upgrade to be researched in order to be fielded, but it is well worth it, for they are  endowed with a powerful gun and plenty of armour and hitpoints.

While they are quite powerful and are effective against light infantry, light vehicles and towers, and can even survive hits from enemy fortresses, tanks are rather costly and also subceptible to assault infantry. Equally to note, artillery guns in sufficient numbers will be able to take out tanks rather easily, so you will need to be wary of what weapons you field against them.

Rise of the Moderns has 2 types of tanks: heavy tanks, and tankettes. Tankettes are available from a temple, but heavy tanks can be built only at an arsenal, and require 2 special technologies available only at a Military-industrial complex. This means that the only way that non-American, non-Western factions can access this is by capturing someone else's military-industrial complex.

Generally speaking, there are three types of heavy tank buildable to all factions:

In order to build a tank, one must have the following upgrades completed:

Mechanised armour doctrine
