While it is true that most Southeast Asian nations have been tribes brought to the size of principalities through the virtues of warrior-kings, the Bamar are said to be the most warlike and expansive of all factions. And perhaps for good reason, for the land today known as Myanmar has been invaded time and again, by Indians to the west and the Chinese and Mongols to the north.

As such, the Burmese are a highly expansive race, equipped with units that are specialist in jungle warfare. Not only do they have access to war elephants, but their main unique unit lines - spearmen and light cavalry - are all nigh powerful against war elephants, a staple unit for many Asian factions, and an important component of the Siamese army. What is more, the Bamar are the only units among all south Asian factions to field dragoons: their Industrial Era Konbaung dragoon, is in fact a light cavalry unit with a ranged attack! Bamar is best described as an anti-Chinese, anti-Siamese and anti-Indian faction: their units have bonuses against war elephants (the hallmark unit of India and Siam), and also have a good mix of somewhat modern units which make it easier to pick off the more archaic aspects of China's military.

Yet, despite the people of the semi-arid Arakan plateau being some of the world's most warlike tribes, they have adopted the more sophisticated ways of the Mon, and this has filtered into many cultural bonuses. Food can be extracted from forestry activity, as long as your citizens are working on gathering timber. Equally, your first Senate is also built for free and instantaneously, making it easy to set your capital where you need it.
