If Sardinia's per territory strength exceeds Austria's, France will cease to be an ally.
If Russia flags Serbia, Austria's alliance with Russia is annulled.
If Prussia's per territory strength exceeds Austria's, Prussia will cease to be an ally.
Eventually, Austria will become politically isolated, and could possibly even be considered as a major target for conquest by Russia, Prussia or even Italy. Alternatively, an alliance with Austria can be very useful especially if you plan to begin a "Great War" scenario which occurs once the campaign timer is finished.
